Arm Lift (Bat Wing Deformity Correction)

Mainly aimed at women suffering from what are commonly known as bat or bingo wings. An arm lift or brachiaplasty is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin and fat from the upper arms to provide a tighter improved contour.

An arm lift will be performed under a general anaesthetic and can be combined with liposuction if necessary so you may need to stay overnight in some cases. Mr Yii will make long incisions from the armpit down to the elbow and then crescent-shaped segments of skin and fat are removed. The skin is then stitched together with dissolvable stitches.

It is not possible to hide the scar as with other procedures, but most patients feel that is an acceptable compromise to achieve a much more pleasing appearance to the upper arms. As with all surgical procedures, there are risks and potential side effects to an arm lift procedure and Mr Yii will discuss them in full with you before you go ahead with the procedure.

Healing varies from patient to patient but recovery from an arm lift can be tricky due to the position of the scarring and it can take a couple of weeks before you return to work, as long as it doesn’t involve heavy lifting or rigorous physical activity.
